January Favourites 2017

January 29, 2017 0 Comments
I can't believe January is almost over, I feel as if this year is going to fly by again. On the bright side though we survived the first month of 2017 so good job everyone!!

Here are some of the things I've been loving throughout January ...

Zoella Lazy Days Candle

I was lucky enough to receive the Lazy Days socks and candle gift set from the Zoella Lifestyle range for Christmas. As soon as I opened it I instantly smelt the candle. It has a fresh scent, which I was a bit unsure of at first, but after burning it a few times I fell in love with it. I have burnt this candle every evening throughout January, and still have over 1/4 of it left to burn so I am seriously impressed with how long it's lasted.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

This was another present I was lucky enough to get for Christmas, and I've been using it a lot throughout January. It's such a pretty palette and the shades are to die for. I'm so excited to use this palette more particularly in Spring/Summer and when I go on nights out.

Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles

Whenever I went on a school trip these were my go to sweets for the coach, and I still love them to this day. The last time I had these was a few years ago, so when I saw my local shop was selling them I picked up 2 bags. They're fruit flavoured jelly sweets covered in sugar I mean what's not to love? My favourite is probably the blackcurrant flavour although orange is a close 2nd.

Let It Shine

The first of 2 talent shows I have been loving this month is Let It Shine. Let It Shine is being shown on BBC One on Saturday nights and is the work of Gary Barlow. The concept is to find 5 boys who will go on to star in a west end show featuring the music of Take That. Gary Barlow, Dannii Minogue and Martin Kemp are the main judges with a different guest judge throughout each stage. I love how different this talent show is compared to shows such as The Voice or X Factor as you get to see people's talents without them telling a "sob story."

Dance Dance Dance

The second talent show I have been loving this month is Dance Dance Dance. Dance Dance Dance is being shown on ITV1 on Sunday nights and the concept is amazing. It features 5 celebrities and their partners recreating iconic dance scenes from the world of music and film such as MJ and Dirty Dancing. I'm rooting for JB and Chloe to win because I just love them as a couple and have done for many years, plus they have been smashing their dances week after week (pretty surprised they haven't had 10s yet)

  Ed Sheeran's New Music

This was probably my highlight of January. I love Ed Sheeran, he is one of the best artists ever so when he announced he was releasing new music I fangirled so hard. Ed dropped 2 new singles this month, Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill which I've had on repeat for weeks now. I love them both so much although my favourite out of the 2 is Castle On The Hill.

Lush Valentine's Day Haul

January 22, 2017 0 Comments

I'm back again with another Lush Haul (I promise I'm not addicted or anything) I only did one of these a few weeks ago, but since then Lush got their Valentine's range in. Considering this range is only around for a short time I had to get some things.

Here's what I picked up ...

Unicorn Horn
This is one of 3 bubble bars that I picked up, it's the absolute classic Unicorn Horn. I always buy at least one of these during this time of year, because the colours are amazing and so vibrant which makes for an awesome bath. This was also one of the first bubble bars I ever bought from Lush so it's quite special to me. It reminds me of Twilight (one of my fave bath bombs) because it's quite creamy and has that calming lavender smell, perfect for a bath at the end of a long day.

Ladybird
The second bubble bar I picked up was Ladybird. Lush actually released this last year as part of their Mother's Day range, and have brought it back this year as part of their Valentine's range. I can't get over how cute it looks (I almost don't want to crumble him into my bath) The scent kind of reminds me of Snow Fairy because it's very sweet, however floral notes do come through towards the end. I am excited to use this in my bath as I've heard it turns the water a deep red colour.

Lovestruck
The final bubble bar I picked up was Lovestruck. This is new for Lush's 2017 Valentine's range and as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it. I am a sucker for emojis and probably overuse them, but one of my favourites is the love heart eyes emoji, so this just screams "me" all over. It contains lemon oil and geranium oil and the scent is really similar to Ladybird. I can't wait to use this in my bath as I like citrus scents, I just hope it's not too overpowering.

Cupid
Moving on to bath bombs. The first bath bomb I picked up was Cupid which is new for 2017. Lush are so unique with their seasonal ranges, and any new bath bomb is a winner for me. It's quite small compared to other bath bombs in the range, but from demos I've seen the 2 different pink colours make for quite a show. It shares it scent with the Razzle Dazzle bath oil but also includes fresh raspberry juice (I got really excited when I heard about this) Although I haven't used this yet I feel as if I'm going to be stocking up on this bath bomb.

Over And Over
The second bath bomb I picked up was Over and Over. I love this bath bomb for 2 reasons. One being it looks just like Never Mind The Ballistics that I picked up in their Boxing Day sale, but with a orange top instead of red. The second reason being it smells so citrusy (seriously go into a lush store, pick this up and smell it and you'll understand what I mean) It contains lime oil and fennel oil and I feel as if this would be the perfect bath bomb to freshen your skin.

Lover Lamp
The third bath bomb I picked up was Lover Lamp. It's a white bath bomb with 3 jelly hearts inside which is really simple, however Lush are known to surprise people. The scent is quite difficult to describe, it has notes of vanilla and orange with some people even describing it as a chocolate orange scent (I personally can't smell that) but it's not too overpowering. I think this bath bomb would be perfect for a relaxing bath, and even as a gift for someone who doesn't like strong scented bath bombs.

Rose Bombshell
The final bath bomb I picked up was Rose Bombshell. I instantly fell in love with the bright pink and turquoise tones on this, as well as the rose detail. It has a lovely floral rose scent and includes a hint of lemon for some sweetness. Some people may find this slightly overpowering if they're not a fan of floral scents, but for me personally it's not a problem. It leaves your bath water a gorgeous pinky colour with the turquoise mixing in, and once fizzed away yellow rose petals come up to the surface.

Prince Charming Shower Cream
The final product I picked up from Lush's Valentine's range was a 100g bottle of their Prince Charming shower cream. I've actually never used this before (don't hate me) so can't wait to start using it. It has fresh scents of grapefruit oil and pomegrante juice and also contains vanilla pod and a tiny bit of marshmallow root. As I said I've never used this product/ a shower cream before so am excited to see how it differs from a shower gel.

Motivational Quotes

January 15, 2017 0 Comments
Today's post is a little different.

I love quotes particularly motivational ones, so I thought I would share with you all my top 5 favourite quotes that really help me, particularly if I'm not feeling the best.

This quote is so important. We're all so busy in life and get so caught up that we often just count down how many days it is until Friday. I think it's so important that we make the most of every day, because as scary as it is one day we'll all be gone, and I'm sure we all want to look back and say that we made the most of each day.

This is similar to the first quote in the sense that we should make the most of each day, but it has another meaning as well. I'm one of these people who can hold a grudge/ always think of the bad things that have happened instead of moving forward. This quote really highlights the fact that every day is a fresh start, and we shouldn't let something that happened in the past affect the future.

This quote literally speaks volumes. We live in a day and age where we have access to social media and the internet 24/7 and can often become obsessed with other people's lifestyles. There's nothing wrong with wanting to change and become a better person, but the important thing to remember is to do it for yourself not for anybody else. After all there's only one you and nobody can change that.

I honestly live by this quote, if something doesn't make me happy then I stop doing it. We all have different interests and things, and just because your friend/idol loves something doesn't mean you have to as well. It's important to discover what makes you happy and to focus on that rather than doing it just to please someone else. A common example I've seen of this is YouTube, some people start it to become big like Zoella, but in reality they aren't doing it because they love it they just want the fame.

My final quote is something Zoe (Zoella) talks about in great detail in a video from 2013. (here's the link if you want to watch it) She really emphasises the fact on how saying yes to things can open new doors, and give you so many amazing opportunities no matter how scary they might be. Out of all these quotes this is probably the one I follow most often. I've said yes to so many things I never thought I would've including recently, and it's made me feel so good/more confident.

What's On My Bedside Table

January 11, 2017 0 Comments

I hate having clutter on my bedside table so I try to keep it as simple as possible. I do my skincare routine and things before bed so don't really need to keep those products there. My bedside table also has 3 drawers so I tend to just stick anything I don't need in them.

Lava Lamp -  The first thing I keep on my bedside table is my lava lamp. I got this for Christmas a few years ago, and thought my bedside table was the perfect place for it. It looks really cute when switched on, and I can take it out if I want to and just use the bottom as a bedside table lamp.

Q&A a day 5 year journalI keep this journal on my bedside table so that I remember to fill it in. It has a different question every day and you answer them for 5 years. I've be filling it in for 3 years now, and looking back at my previous answers makes me chuckle.

Glasses  I  always keep my glasses in my glass case on my bedside table if I'm not wearing them, mostly so I don't break them. However I also keep them here so that I can put them on straight away when I wake up.

Lip balm - Lip balm is an essential for me and I tend to take some everywhere I go, so it's only right that I keep one beside my bed. I always put some on just before I go to sleep, to stop my lips from becoming dry during the night. I'm currently using a candy cane flavoured one. (I know it's a Christmassy flavour but I love it and it's too good to stop using)

Candle - I love burning scented candles, particularly in my bedroom. It makes my room feel so cosy which is perfect especially during the winter months, and it also makes my room smell amazing before bed. I'm currently burning Lazy Days by Zoella which has a really fresh scent and is just heavenly.

I also keep my phone on my bedside table during the night whilst it is charging, but I used it to take these pictures so couldn't photograph it. If I'm reading a book I'll also keep that by my bed as well.

So that is everything I keep on my bedside table.
What do you keep on yours?

December Favourites 2016

January 08, 2017 0 Comments
I can't believe 2016 is over, it literally flew by (although it was a rubbish year for so many reasons)

The start of a new month can only mean one thing - favourites time, so here are some of the things I've been loving throughout December.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Shampoo

I've been using this shampoo for about a year/ year and a half now and I can't live without it. What first drew me to this particular shampoo in the range was the fact it was made for mid-long hair with split ends. When I first started using this my hair wasn't in the best condition because of straightening it. However since using this shampoo I've definitely noticed a change in my hair. It leaves it feeling super soft and smooth, and I can get away with not washing my hair for a few days without it looking greasy.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

Another Garnier product I have been loving for ages is their Micellar cleansing water. I use this every evening to take my make up off before I cleanse my skin. My make up comes off so easily when using this, which is perfect especially if I've had a long day. It doesn't irritate my skin at all and I like the fact it can be used all over the face. I currently only have about 1/4 of this left, but I bought this in July/August time and have used it everyday, so am impressed with how long it has lasted.

7th Heaven Cucumber Peel-Off Face Mask

I've never really been a big fan of face masks, but I saw this whilst shopping in Boots so decided to pick some up. They only cost £1 so I wasn't really expecting much but the results actually surprised me.It is a peel off mask, so you apply the gel to your face and leave it for 10-20 minutes whilst relaxing then peel it off. It left my skin feeling so soft and I didn't have any breakouts for a few days. With this product you can only use a thin layer of it or else it won't dry but the result is just as good. I'm excited to try some other masks by 7th Heaven.

Fox's Milk Chocolate Rounds

These are my favourite Fox's biscuits. Whenever my family buy a selection pack of biscuits I always go for these first. It's a shortcake biscuit covered in a thick layer of chocolate (aka heaven) There are 8 in a pack which don't last long, because once opened it's hard not to keep going back for another one.

Gavin & Stacey

I am a huge fan of Gavin & Stacey and have watched it numerous times since it first aired. As soon as I saw it was on Netflix I couldn't help myself and watched season 2 and 3 in 2 days. (seriously though Netflix why no season 1?) One of my favourite episodes is the Christmas special, which I always watch at least once in December. I would love for there to be a Gavin & Stacey special/reunion at some point in the future.

The Great Christmas Bake Off

I love The Great British Bake Off, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out there was going to be a 2 part Christmas special. The Christmas special brought back 8 old contestants from past series to compete in Christmassy challenges. The 1st part was shown on Christmas Day (which I made my whole family watch) and the the 2nd part was shown on Boxing Day (perfect TV viewing) However this was the last ever Bake Off on the BBC, which for me personally was quite sad as it's not going to be the same without Mary Berry, Mel and Sue.

2017 Goals

January 02, 2017 0 Comments

January is the time where everyone sets resolutions/goals for the year ahead, then tends to fail them within the first few weeks. I'm not going to lie a few years ago that was me I would say things like "in the new year I'm going to lose weight and get healthy" then fail come February. However for the past 2 years I've actually focused on the goals I've set myself and achieved them, and it feels amazing.

So here are the goals I've set myself for 2017 ...

1) Pass my driving test - This was a goal I set myself last year and I half achieved it. I passed my theory in the summer which for me seems like the hardest part, because I don't do well in exam like conditions. However I stopped my lessons in October because I had way too much on, so this year I want to start them again and get my licence.

2) Meet up with friends moreThis one for me is quite important because me and my friends are all so busy either with our jobs or uni work. This year I really want to do stuff with them whenever possible. I also want to reconnect with people I've lost contact with (I'm not talking about friends from 10 years ago) but people I haven't spoken to for a few months.

3) Visit new places - This year I really want to visit new places. If money wasn't an object I would go on a round the world trip tomorrow, however I must think logically. This year I'm going to try and plan some day trips/weekend trips to places in the UK I've always wanted to visited. Travelling might cost a lot, but memories are priceless.

4) Post more on my blog - One of my goals for last year was to start a blog, which I did (10 months into the year) I posted on it once a week, so this year I really want to post on it more regularly. My aim is to do 2 blog posts a week and schedule them. However I know this will not always be possible because I might have a busy week, or won't have anything to write about. I also want my blog posts to be interesting and don't want to upload one just for the sake of it.

5) Read more books - When I was younger I used to read all the time, but when I started having exams and stuff at school I just stopped. I've read books since but not as often as I would like to. This year I would love to get back into reading again and discover some new authors.

6) Be more positive - My final goal for the year is to be more positive about things. This was a goal of mine for 2016 and I started doing it and it definitely helped. However I was still looking at the negative side of things, so this year I've decided to set myself this goal again. Obviously I'm not going to be positive about absolutely everything but I want to work on the small things such as thinking about a new day. For example instead of me being like"ugh Monday tomorrow, worst day ever" being like "Monday tomorrow, let's make it a good day."

I think these goals are doable, and I'm looking forward to coming back to this post at the end of the year to see how many I've actually achieved.

What are your goals for 2017?
